Authentic Murphy's Irish Stout Dimpled Mug

Enjoy a beer in this authentic beer mug from this iconic brewery in Cork, Ireland. The tankard has the Murphy's Irish Stout logo printed on the front. This durable mug is built to last and prove to be a perfect go-to glass that will be a long stay in your home bar.

This dimpled mug (also known as a tankard or jug) is a style of pub glass that was widely used up to the 1980's when pint glasses started to replace this glass. Pint glasses such as the tulip pint and nonic glass were easier to store and stack so bartenders in the UK started to favor their use. The dimpled beer mug is wide and made from thick machine pressed glass. The dimples make the glass easier to grip.

This mug would make a great gift for anyone that enjoys this world class Irish stout. There is a friendly rivalry between the cities of Cork and Dublin that centers around Murphy's and Guinness. Irish beer drinkers tend to gravitate towards the beer that hails from their city and holdfast to this friendly tradition. Cast your lot with Cork and Murphy's by showing off this beer mug!

About Murphy's Irish Stout
Murphy's Irish Stout was established in Cork, Ireland in 1856 by James Jeremiah Murphy. Over the years the brewery has also been referred to as Lady's Well Brewery. The water used t brew the beer comes from the River Lee which was said to be an important ingredient in the recipe. The brewery began by producing stouts and porters. At one point, the brewery landed a contract to provide beer to the English military. By the early 1900's, Murphy's brewing output exceeded all other Irish breweries with the sole exception of Guinness. Murphy's stout is proven to be a staple beer produced at the brewery and is arguable Cork's most popular beer. Murphy's Irish Stout falls under the dry stout category. The mouth feel is creamy and smooth with less IBUs (bitterness) than other stouts. The flavor is has notes of both nuts and espresso. The Murphy's brewery was purchased by Heineken in 1983.

easy ordering
Great mug (has already had a couple good workouts) and easy ordering process. Totally agree with Mike M. Recently returned from Ireland and like Murphy's better than Guiness, but Murphy's items are hard to find. Thanks!!
