Use this stainer to make the perfect Mint Julep or Sazerac cocktail (see recipes below).  Easy to clean and efficiently stains mint and other aromatic herbs from either a Boston Shaker or Cocktail Shaker.  Strainer bowl is 3-1/4 inches long and 2-7/8 inches wide.  Handle to tip of stainer bowl is 6 inches.  The handle is perforated for easy hanging.  This is a must have bar tool.

Mint Julep Cocktail Recipe

Ingredients:
4 Spearmint sprigs
1/2 oz simple syrup
2 1/2 oz bourbon
1 spearmint sprig (garnish)

Tools
Glass: Julep cup, Collins Glass or Rocks Glass
Julep Stainer
Jigger

Preparation:
1.Place the spearmint and simple syrup into a julep cup, Collins glass or
Rocks Glass.
2.Muddle the spearmint with Muddler to dissolve the sugar and to release the oil and aroma of the spearmint.
3.Add the bourbon
4.Fill with crushed ice and stir well until the glass becomes frosty.
5.Garnish with the spearmint sprig.

Sazerac Cocktail Recipe

Ingredients:
2 ounces Rye Whiskey
Three dashes Peychaud's Bitters
One sugar cube or 1 tsp simple syrup
Splash of absinthe or Herbsaint

Glass:
Rocks Glass
Jigger
Cocktail Shaker or Boston Shake
Peeler


Preparation:
1. Pack an old fashioned or rocks glass with ice and water in order to  chill the glass.
2. In a cocktail shaker or Boston Shaker mix the sugar cube or simple syrup with the bitters. Add the rye to this mixture. Shake.
3. Discard the ice and water from the chilled glass. Pour the absinthe or Herbsaint into the glass and swirl to coat the sides of the glass. Discard and excess absinthe or Herbsaint.
4. Pour the rye/sugar/bitters mixture from the shaker through a stainer into the coated glass. Garnish with a lemon peel twist over the glass.
